Grindstone Cleanup

Show-Me Canines has volunteered to clean up the Grindstone Nature Area. Grindstone is one of very few offleash dog areas in the city of Columbia, and is the most heavily used. Approximately 4 times a year, Show-Me members walk the trails and clean up dog waste. We have won a city volunteerism award for our efforts. Members and non-members are encouraged to join us for cleanups, which take approximately 2 hours. All who participate in cleanups receive $5 in Show Me Bucks, which can be redeemed for show or seminar registrations. If you would like to join us in cleaning up Grindstone Park, contact us!

Therapy

Show-Me Canines has a very active therapy program, headed by Judy Steiner. Therapy visits are made to Senior Centers, Columbia Regional Hospital, and to the Ashland Library for their reading program. Contact Judy for more information and to find out if your dog can be a therapy dog!

Community Requests

Show-Me Canines has provided dogs for various community activities. We've had teams in charity walks. We've given agility and obedience demos at the Humane Society and for the opening of a new center for disadvantaged youth in Columbia. Lately we've given several dog sport demos for various Girl Scout troops. Requests for appearances can be addressed to the secretary, Cindy Jansen.
